There's a great scene in The Social Network where Mark Zuckerberg's character was recommend to drop the 'the', from his social networking site, The Facebook. I always remembered this scene, and I figured this day was coming eventually (because if Justin Timberlake's advice is good enough for facebook, it's good enough for me!)
The Sacred Church is going clean, and dropping the 'The' from our name to be simply be known as, Sacred Church. There's a couple reasons for this:
- We are helping replant a church in San Bruno who will be adopting the Sacred Church name! (YES!) Now is a great time to make the name a bit cleaner as we move forward planting churches on the Peninsula.
- We grabbed Sacred.Church (not finished yet), but it will create a cohesive "front page" for the greater Sacred Church family on the San Francisco Peninsula. Fun fact: we picked The Sacred Church over Sacred Church to begin with because the SacredChurch.com domain name was taken! When .church domain names became available, we jumped on it within the first 10-minutes it was available.
- Grammatically, having a definite article as a preface to our name has been confusing. 'How are you doing The Sacred Church?' Uck.
- And if we're honest with ourselves, most of us were saying "Sacred Church" anyways.
So, our name is: Sacred Church
You will also see: Sacred Church : Burlingame (to distinguish the Burlingame church from the San Bruno Church and other cities in the future, when needed).
Over the next few weeks, you'll begin to see this transition taking place. Hope you enjoy the new cleaner, more consise name!
